Participants will gain essential information about water damage restoration. Water damage is so commonplace to most Restoration  Professionals that sometimes we have to remind ourselves of its importance.  Water damage claims are the second most frequent insurance claim following wind and hail damage.  Restoration contractors often comment how these water restoration jobs are what keeps the lights on.  This one-hour course is an entertaining and wide-ranging interview hosted by Ed Cross with his topic expert Cole Stanton.  They explore technical elements as well as real lessons and tips from field experience.

This class is part of the Technical Excellence curriculum at Restoration Crosscheck. You will find it in its Body of Knowledge Content Library and in related learning paths for continuing education for your restoration organizations’ leadership, estimators, supervisors, and technicians.  This is an intermediate level presentation as it expects some existing familiarity with the discipline and water damage standards.  At the conclusion of this class attendees will:

  • Recognize the indicators of type and severity of water damage upon first contact with property and client.
  • Identify the category of water-damage severity, especially microbial hazards.
  • Gain an understanding of the governing bodies, industry standards and classifications related to water damage, highlighting current IICRC Standards
  • Describe how the classes of water damage severity are based on degree of moisture uptake, and the anticipated energy and effort to correct the intrusion.
  • Discover where to use antimicrobial products, types of application methods, and appreciate recent changes to the standards.
  • Confidently be able to use diagnostic and investigative tools.
